"Update 3/5/25: In the past, Mr. Karas was very polite, friendly, understanding, and professional. He understandably was having a bad day, but. that didn't justify how I was treated. If you sign up with Mr. Karas, YOU WILL MOST LIKELY GET GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE that he prides himself on, just understand that he sometimes fails in this objective and my review is my experience that I had. I do feel he should've taken responsibility for how he acted and apologized, but that didn't happen. If he had, I would've pulled this review. My opinion is my own and yes, I did find a different agent. --- Phone problems should never, EVER be an excuse to be rude to a customer. NEVER. --------- Mr. Karras called me back and was SUPER RU To be honest I was shocked. Mr. Karras has always, always been helpful and professionaDE TO ME! He should NEVER TALK TO CUSTOMERS THIS WAY. There is no excuse for this. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! --------- Whenever I call the local number, I get placed into an unnecessarily complicated phone tree. When I finally speak to someone in the national call center, they route me back into the phone tree in an endless loop. When I asked someone from the national call center to conference me in, even they couldn't contact Nick Karras's office. This is very troubling when you consider that this is an insurance agency who is expected to deal with emergencies in the event of a disaster. As a client, this concerns me. What if I am in such a situation and I can't get the help I need with my claim? Not good. Not good at all."
"Michael, I have never been rude to a customer in 20+ years of doing this and I was NOT rude to you. Maybe you confusing my explanation that as a small business owner, I take reviews very seriously and they affect my business. To put this in context, our phones were down from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm and in that time you didn't even give me the common courtesy to respond to you via email. You then wrote a 1 star negative review for a situation that was beyond my control . Regardless I am very glad you took my advice and moved your business to another agent that may be better suited to your personality and unreasonable expectations. Obviously we are having a phone problem today which is a first and having difficulty switching off the routing line. We are calling you right now. No reason you should have left such a nasty review as this was a first for me. I would hope that a reasonable person would underdstand that this was beyond my control and we are working on the phones as I am writing to you. "I reached out to Nick when my earlier insurance carrier hiked up the premium by 320% Nick showed very high levels of empathy and went into the weeds with me. I was able to figure out factors that would increase my premium and at what point I could expect the rates to go down. He gave me some quotes which were way lower than what my then existing carrier was charging. I was happy to switch to State Farm because of the guidance provided by Nick. There were some hiccups in the transition and some inefficiencies in the process, but those were beyond Nick's control. Given my experience with him, I would totally recommend Nick to my friends, acquaintances, and family to him - whether they are happy with State Farm is another issue :-) This review is meant to be an endorsement of my experience with Nick Karras :-)"
